Real-World Self Defense Lessons

Get Reliable, Easy-to-Learn Self Defense Lessons
that Work for Anyone

The harsh reality is that our streets are becoming more and more dangerous every day. Criminals are getting meaner and bolder. They break into your home without even waiting until you are away! Every day we hear news of innocent people beaten, or even killed, for no apparent reason.

You can bury your head in the sand like an ostrich and think, "It won't happen to me. So, I don't need self defense lessons."—but I can give you three good reasons why that is a dangerous attitude:

  • Crime statistics indicate that everyone will experience a violent crime at one time or another
  • Everyone knows someone who has been a victim of a violent crime
  • It's just a matter of time until it is your turn!
The statistics are not in your favor.

Who is going to protect you from violence? The police? Unfortunately, they can't be everywhere all the time. And you can't rely on other people on the street to step in. Your cries for help may never even be heard, much less answered.

You need to take responsibility for your own safety; nobody else can, or will. You need to understand the dangers of the world we live in, and learn how to take protective action. You must be prepared before disaster strikes to be sure you survive it. Are you prepared for a violent attack?

Most Self Defense Programs are Totally Inadequate!

Most people have no idea what to do when confronted with a violent attack. They become frozen with panic and do nothing, which is the surest way to become a victim of violence; or, if they have taken some sort of self defense training, they find it to be totally inadequate. This includes even those with years of orthodox martial arts training who discover that it was either too regimented or sports-oriented to be effective in realistic violent situations.

It is vitally important that you don't leave it to chance by just taking any self defense lessons out there; you must do your homework and sort out the good programs from the bad. Investing a little time in researching proven, real-world self defense programs could save you a serious injury, or even your life.

Most programs spend far too much time on attack prevention. While that's important, all the awareness, planning and prevention in the world don’t mean you won't get attacked anyway! In addition to teaching awareness of how to recognize potential threats, a good self defense program should focus on how to deal with the actual act of violence.

Most self defense lessons don't even deal with the most common threats. In reality, violence is not always perpetrated by those you would typically classify as criminals. Sometimes, the most even-tempered and seemingly least likely among us can "snap" in a fit of road rage, or from having their "personal space" invaded once too often. Violence can happen anywhere, at anytime. Will you be ready for it? Will you be able see it coming?

Did you know that using the correct words or gestures can get a potential attacker to calm down or rethink his actions? Would you know how to do that? A good self defense program will teach you. But when all else fails, you must be ready to take immediate action. Even the slightest hesitation could get you seriously injured. You must be prepared to fight back!

Statistics from the FBI Uniform Crime Report (UCR) tell us that between 60% and 70% of crime victims who took action, and fought back against their attacker, stated that some form of "self-protective measures" helped in their situation. This is why we believe that when your life or safety is threatened, you are much better off fighting back.

Attitude!—the Foundation of Self Defense

There is only one question you need ask yourself: "Am I willing to hurt someone who wants to hurt me?" If you can answer "yes" to that question, you have the correct mindset for self defense lessons. Once it is clear in your mind that you will do your very best to protect yourself and those you care about, nothing can stop you!

Once you have the right attitude, learning the techniques you need is easy. A good self defense program will teach you to deal with any situation, whether an attack from behind, on the ground, or an armed attack. Most programs do not have a comprehensive plan that covers the widest range of possible scenarios.

It is a simple fact: you will never escape your attacker unless you hurt him. You need to cause him enough discomfort that he begins to realize he picked the wrong target. The quickest way to do this is with a WELL PLACED strike with the hand, elbow, knee or foot. This may be all you need to create your opening for escape. But what if that's not enough?

Most programs don't go beyond this concept. Many self defense lessons teach striking techniques, but don't teach you what to do if they fail to do the job, or if you're in a position where you can't use them.

For instance, what happens if you suddenly end up on the ground? It's easy to fall or be forced to the ground in a struggle. The attack may surprise you. It may happen so quickly that you have no time to react. You may find yourself on the ground with someone on top of you before you even know what happened. The ground is the last place you want to be, because you have such limited mobility. There is no escape! But even if you only weigh 120 pounds, you can easily move a 240 pound guy off you if you know how!

What if the attacker is armed? Guns and knives are all too common these days. Make no mistake, weapons are extremely dangerous. Acting against a criminal with a weapon must be done

However, some self defense lessons lead you to believe that it is easy to deal with weapon attacks. Dealing with weapons is never easy, but it is possible to survive a weapon attack with the correct training.

A Comprehensive Self Defense Training Program Covers Every Possibility

Every situation is different. Every person is different; different experiences, different sizes and different reactions to any given situation. The best programs offer enough options to deal with all these variables.

This is where other martial arts–based self defense lessons fall short. Some don't show proper striking techniques that will really work when you need them. Others don't teach how to deal with grabs and ground attacks. Almost none of them teach realistic defenses against an attacker with a weapon.

You need a comprehensive self defense training program that covers every possibility.

You know that in life you have so much more control over events if you plan for them. It's the same with self defense lessons. If you realize that your safety is important, which you obviously do since you're reading this, you can begin to plan for it. A good self defense training program will give you the tools to build a safe and confident future!

What you should look for in a self defense training program:

  • Established curriculum
  • Proven results with testimonials
  • Easy to learn techniques that are easy to recall under stress
  • Promotes a "can do" attitude
  • Training covering a multitude of scenarios
You could be attacked tomorrow! You need to learn self defense NOW! You don't have time to learn complex acrobatic moves. They don't work anyway!

You need self defense lessons that not only work, but are fast and easy to learn. You need techniques that are based on natural body movements, making them easy to learn and easy to do!

One thing that cannot be denied: when faced with violence, you must ACT! Don't just stand there and take it. Move, shout, strike back—anything; just do something! If you freeze because you don't know what to do, you could get seriously injured, or even killed.
