Jujitsu Shoulderlock Takedown
In this variation of the jujitsu shoulder-lock takedown, I demonstrate how a well-placed strike is a quick and effective way to put an opponent on the defensive. This technique uses an upward elbow strike to the chin to set up the takedown. Watch the video demonstration, then read through the point-by-point explanation to learn exactly how this technique works.

The Finer Points
[Note: The following images are snapshots taken directly from the video, so some of them are a bit blurry. But, you can still see the important points of the technique.]
Step 1
Against a front choke, begin with an upward elbow strike under the attacker's chin.
Step 2
Use a downward elbow strike to knock his left arm away.
Step 3
Bring your right arm under his right arm as you push his wrist back with your left wrist.
Step 4
Pull his elbow to you as you set up the shoulder-lock.
Step 5
Pull his wrist down and into your center.
Step 6
A simple submission is a quick "key-turn" to the left.
